Storefront window decals: what to put on your glass
Your shop name or logo big enough to read from across the street, then hours, phone and website on the door at eye level. White cut vinyl reads best on most glass; printed vinyl is for full-color logos and photos.

What to put where
- Main window: logo or shop name, plus 2 to 4 words on what you sell ("Coffee · Bagels · Wi-Fi")
- Door, at eye level: business hours, phone, website
- A small QR or NFC sticker by the door: menu, booking or your Google reviews
- Promo glass: sale, seasonal or "Now open" graphics you can peel off later
Cut vinyl or printed vinyl?
Cut vinyl is lettering cut from a solid color sheet, with no background: crisp, durable and clean on glass. It is the usual choice for names, hours and simple logos.
Printed vinyl carries full-color artwork, gradients and photos. Use it for detailed logos, promo graphics and anything with more than one or two colors.
Colors that read from the street
Glass looks dark from outside most of the day, so white or light lettering usually stands out best. Black lettering works on frosted vinyl or a light backdrop. Avoid thin fonts and long sentences: people read a window in a second or two while walking.
Inside or outside the glass?
Lettering applied on the outside of the glass looks sharpest. Decals applied on the inside, facing out, are protected from weather and scraping. Tell us which side you will apply on and we cut it the right way round.
Applying and removing
Clean the glass, peel the backing, squeegee from the middle out, then lift the transfer tape slowly. Most hours and lettering decals go on in minutes with the guide we include. Removable vinyl peels off later without residue when your hours or promo change.
Storefront lettering and business hours decals start from $16.99. Send a photo of your window and we mock up the layout first.
Questions
How big should letters be on a storefront window?
Big enough to read from across the street for the shop name, and normal reading size at eye level on the door for hours and phone. Send us a photo of the window and we size it for you.
Can window decals be removed?
Yes. Removable vinyl peels off without residue, which is why it is popular for promos and hours.
Do you install window lettering?
Most customers apply it themselves with our guide in a few minutes. Ask us about installation in Brooklyn.
